The first trailer for Stephen Spielberg thriller "Bridge of Spies" has arrived, with Tom Hanks as a debutant international negotiator.
Based on the true life story of insurance lawyer James B. Donovan and cold war pilot Francis Gary Powers, "Bridge of Spies" has Hanks renew his collaborative relationship with Spielberg and the Coen Brothers once again.
Joel and Ethan Coen provided a reworked script for Spielberg, and Hanks as James B.
Donovan appears opposite Mark Rylance as Rudolf Abel, the captured Soviet agent who forms part of a proposed spy exchange.
Donovan is approached by the US government to become involved in Abel's case, and in the "Bridge of Spies" trailer expresses surprise, identifying himself as "an insurance lawyer," and telling Abel "this will be a first for the both of us" – though in real life he had cause to be known for his international experience in other, more pertinent fields.
"Everyone deserves a defence," he says, "every person matters."
"Bridge of Spies," Spielberg's first directed film since 2012 Oscar winner "Lincoln," is set for release the week of October 16 in the USA, rolling out internationally over the following weeks. A Russian release beckons on November 11. – AFP, June 6, 2015.
