Putrajaya's argument to have the Enforcement Agency Integrity Commission (EAIC) rather than a dedicated oversight panel for the police appears to miss the point. How can one panel with just one investigator handle 19 agencies? Also, most of the complaints are about the police rather than 18 other agencies. How many more must die before something concrete is done to prevent custodial deaths and investigate any more such deaths? Is there an oversight about the need for oversight just for the police? An independent panel will only be good for the police force in the long run, rather than pathetic excuses of one panel for all.
