I suppose we can forgive the snatch thief because his crime is nothing compared with the extravagance and pillage of civil servants and those working in state firms as uncovered by the latest Auditor-General's Report. I suppose that too explains the yawning fiscal deficit that has led to subsidy cuts. I suppose we will read about such waste again next year. Because no one seems to get punished. No one seems to take responsibility. No one seems to care. We'll just set up more task forces and waste money to find out why we waste money. Or take integrity pledges and eventually, millions of ringgit later, be too poor to be corrupt.
